Strategy 4 Building Healthy Communities

Building communities in cooperation
with towns and cities
By making full use of our rich regional resources and in cooperation with towns and cities, we are building communities at all levels ranging from tourism to health, food, and municipal services.

Promoting the wellness and tourism industries

By making maximum use of our rich natural resources and promoting their brands, we are vitalizing the tourism industry from a wellness perspective. We are offering our support to approaches that work towards building communities in which people want to live and that people want to visit. One such example is the "Kakaritsuke-yu" personal treatment spas in the Izu area.

Vitalizing tourism in the Izu area by encouraging independent approaches by area

Promoting the Izu Onsen (Japanese Spa) inn network known as "Kakaritsuke-Yu" which provides improved health and healing

  • "Kakaritsuke-Yu": 51 facilities (as of May 2007)
  • "Onsen-Meisters:" 664 (as of March 2007)

Building of health by scientific methods

Promotion of research for the application of the greater psoas muscle training system to new fields, such as improving daily life for the mentally challenged.

Promoting Shokuiku (dietary education)

We are promoting dietary education that nurtures healthy minds and bodies. We are also working towards the promotion of local products by encouraging local production for local consumption.
