Strategy 1 Building a Health Infrastructure R&D from the perspective of patients and the people of the prefecture

Promoting R&D through cooperation among medical science, nursing science, and engineering fields

We will promote joint research in medicine, nursing, and engineering, centering around the Shizuoka Cancer Center and its associated Research Institute. By applying these results in an ongoing manner, we can promote research and development of more effective diagnostic and treatment methods.

Acquiring the full cooperative benefits from an integrated coordinated business effort jointly with the capital's science universities
(Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Waseda University)

Promoting joint research with the aim of revitalizing regional industries

Building a research and development network with medical business clusters both inside and outside the prefecture

Examples of cooperative research between medicine, nursing, and engineering

Private-sector research

  • Development of next-generation diagnostic imaging network with artificial intelligence (Fujifilm Corporation)
  • Development of next-generation proton beam therapy facility (Mitsubishi Electric Corporation)
  • Development of a medical referral system between the cancer hospital and the dental practitioners in order to prevent or relieve the complications accompanied by the cancer treatment (Sunstar Inc., Shizuoka Prefecture Dental Association)

University research

  • Development of new cell treatment methods for cancer (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
  • Development of new tumor markers (using fluorescent materials) (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
  • Screening of novel cancer DNA markers (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology)
  • Development of new cancer cell immunology treatment (Waseda University)
